Where are Fenwick Rods Made?

Fenwick fishing rods are a staple in most angler’s arsenals. But what do you know about them? Where are Fenwick rods made? How do you choose one that is right for your needs and fishing goals? Read on to learn more!

Where are Fenwick Fishing Fly Rods Made?

Fenwick rods are made in the United States, as well as Asia.

The best Fenwick fishing rods are made of high-modulus graphite (HMG) materials which makes them lightweight but stiff enough for powerful casts. They also come with a lifetime warranty. These are many of the brown blank versions.

Fenwick also makes a similar brown blank model that is manufactured in Asia. These are noted to have significantly lower quality than the American made version.

How to Identify an American Made Fenwick Rod

The easiest way to identify an American made Fenwick Rod is a serial number. Most Fenwick Rods manufactured in the US are serialized, whereas the Asian counterparts are not.

There are also some models specifically manufactured overseas. You can read more about these here.

Some Fenwick Fly Rods History

Fenwick rods were originally manufactured by a company called Fenwick & Co. After their first commercially produced graphite rod was so well received, Fenwick was purchased by the manufacturer, Woodstream. Some of the original players at Fenwick did not mesh well with Woodstream, so they parted ways.

One of these players went on to start Winslow Rods, which later changed to Sage Rods. One could say Sage Rods are carrying some of the original Fenwick brand.

What are the Most Popular Fenwick Rods?

Fenwick makes a variety of fishing rods including fly, bass, spinning and other models.

The most popular Fenwick rod is their American made blank model in the all around category. The best selling rod series for them includes the Aetos casting reel combo which has been manufactured since 1997. Fenwick makes great fly rods for trout fishing especially!

They have also expanded to make other types of rods like electric spinning and some saltwater models.

Here are some of our favorite Fenwick Rods:

Fenwick is one of the most reputable names in fly fishing. The Medalist reel combo makes this rod and reel combo a great value for the money. The Pflueger reel is another highly respected piece of equipment.

The rod features a medium fast action. When it comes to a fly rod combo for trout, we recommend the 4 or 5 weight kit.

The wooden handle and Medalist reel have a great look and feel. However, this model comes with the smaller arbor reel versus the large arbor reel. The reel comes pre-spooled with backing and a floating fly line.

Overall, a pretty solid option for anyone looking for a fly rod combo for trout.
